Can anyone come along for an appointment?
YES! All dogs will have an initial assessment with a canine hydrotherapist. During this initial consultation we ask lots of questions before fitting your pet with a harness or float coat. We will move at your pets pace and slowly introduce the underwater treadmill.
Do I need to book an appointment or can I just turn up?
We run all our clinics to an appointment system. This ensures the clients have plenty of time to have their clinical history read and an individual treatment plan made. We don’t want you or your pet standing around. Especially if you dog has decreased mobility and stamina.
Do I need to inform my vet?
YES. We are happy to see all pets that have been referred to us. This ensures our standards are kept high. We can either contact the vet directly when you call and book an initial consultation or your vet can refer you. This process is really quick but ensures we have your pets medical history.
Does my pet need to have a medical conditon to enjoy the benefits of hydrotherapy?
NO. As long as your pet is enjoying their time with us we will see pets for fitness, weight management or to improve their quality of life.
Does my pet need to be fully vaccinated?
Ideally, yes. We prefer to know your canine’s vaccination status to ensure the wellbeing of all our clients pet’s including your own. However, we know sometimes there are exceptions. This is down to management’s discretion.
Why can’t I just go to my local lake?
The list of benefits is long! But to name a few reasons why the underwater treadmill will be far more helpful than rivers, lakes and beaches....
The water is warmer. We monitor the temperature of the water to help with the reduction of inflammation and improve circulation.
We monitor the water quality. The water we use is continually treated, filtered and heated.
We are in control of your pets session. We carefully monitor each dog’s session. Some dogs have a greater stamina than others, Some dogs need more support with their range of movement. A therapist will be helping with placement of limbs etc.
I have insurance, will my dog’s sessions be covered?
Most insurance companies are willing to cover alternative therapies such as hydrotherapy and laser therapy. HOWEVER, as some insurance only cover a certain number of sessions etc, we do ask for payment each time. We also offer block sessions of 10 hydrotherapy sessions may be paid for (this is with a slight saving) and then booked when required. We are happy to claim back the money from your insurance should you decide to make a claim.
